Vessel Series

The earliest peoples created vessels to perform many of the most basic necessary tasks. These important containers were crafted with care and pride resulting in beautiful utilitarian works of art. As an artist I work primarily in encaustic. I recently began working in 3D, combining my love of encaustic with my love of fiber, resulting in a new series of encaustic baskets. The baskets in my vessel series serve no practical purpose but still pay homage to the rich history of basket weaving. I enjoy exploring the sculptural possibilities of basketry, going beyond its traditional beginnings and focusing on developing new forms for expression.
